When starting a design in Cadence, the first thing to do is to
create a library where you can store your designs. Every Library is
associated with a technology file and it is the technology file that
supplies all the color maps, layer maps, design rules, extraction
parameters required to view, design, simulate and fabricate your
Let's go through the steps of creating a library, one by one.
1. In the CIW window , click on File-->New-->Library. You will see the
following window. Enter the name of library (example shown: ee103)
you expect to store your own designed cells. Remember that you had
already created ~/ee103 as a directory in the section on Starting Cadence. You will also need to attach an existing tech library to your
design. For that click on the Attach to
tech library button and choose AMI 0.60u
C5N (3M, 2P, high-res) as your technology file (this is the techfile we are going to use in this class). Finally, you should click on the OK button in the above window.
2. Now, if you look at your Library Manager Window, you should see
mylib as one of the libraries in the left most column.
